I was absolutely blown away by Fran Drescher's (The Nanny) straight forward approach to promoting her cancer fighting organizations on Rosie recently (watch it here).  So much so, that I immediately thought I needed to read more and let all of you know this information is out there. Fran Drescher is a Uterine Cancer survivor and with that fight she started Cancer Schmancer with a mission of helping the cancer fight through early detection.  Now she's started a spin off website called Trash Cancer.

Trash Cancer is unlike any website that I have seen before.  The website provides an easy guide to preventing cancer by limiting your exposure to harmful consumer products in your home, on your skin, on your baby, etc.  They have rated common products you are using.  Some of these products contain so many chemicals.  It's time to wake up and realize that you can be proactive.  Just because a product or a food is in a store, does not mean it's safe.

I found this to be the most thought provoking information on TrashCancer.org

"One American will die from cancer every minute this year. And 5-10% of all cancers are hereditary. So why are so many people getting cancer?

According to the President's Cancer Panel, "with nearly 80,000 on the market in the U.S., many which are used by millions of American's in their daily lives and are un-or understudied and largely unregulated, exposure to potential environmental carcinogens is widespread."

Use this Trash Cancer Checklist to get started on a better environment for cancer prevention.
