Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, emergency personnel got a call that a hiker was in distress. A female hiker had fallen about 20 feet and had fractured her leg on Horsetooth Rock.

Rain and mud made rescue efforts challenging. A volunteer firefighter with PFA was able to reach the hiker, evaluate and treat her injuries.

Several response teams were in the area to assist due to the complicated weather conditions.

Once the woman was stabilized and moved to the parking area, a PVH/UCHealth ambulance transported her to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.

According to a press release, all in all it took 45 rescuers and four hours to complete the extraction of the female hiker.
