The scariest thought for a parent is receiving news that their child is potentially in danger. Unfortunately, a recent scam going around Greeley, is putting people in this exact position, and bringing fear to families in the area.

In a Facebook post on Thursday evening, the Greeley Police Department warned the community of an incident, and ongoing scam that's making the rounds. The report stated that a frantic mother called police, saying her child had reportedly been kidnapped. The mother had received a phone call, showing that it was coming from her daughter's number, saying that she was being held for ransom. Thankfully, the daughter was found safe at daycare, and it was determined that scammers had changed the phone number to one that the targeted woman would recognize. Police want the public to be aware that this type of scam is happening, and to call them immediately if you find yourself in this situation.
