Auburn-Supermall-Wastemobile-6093Well, you're probably already going through your basement or your garage and getting a stack of stuff ready to sell at Colorado's Largest Yard Sale. Well, as you go through your house, if you find you have hazardous chemicals to get rid of, you can get rid of them safely, legally, and for free at the household waste collection event in Fort Collins on June 1st.

Where is it happening?The event is Saturday June 1st, 2013 from 9AM-3PM at 415 E. Monroe St. (The southwest corner Fort Collins Youth Activity Center parking lot.)

This is only for Fort Collins residents, no commercial waste will be allowed.

Here's what you can drop off: (Make sure nothing is leaking, and there is a 30-gallon limit)

  • household batteries
  • paint and pesticides
  • compact fluorescent
  • cleaning and automotive products
  • mercury-containing items (thermostat and appliance switches, thermometers, button-shaped batteries)

There things will not be accepted:

  • Explosives
  • Asbestos
  • Bio-waste (needles, bandages)
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • E-waste
