A  slew of Colorado cities have cancelled their Fourth of July fireworks displays due to extreme fire danger, and now Fort Collins has added their name to that list…sort of.

According to The Coloradoan, a Poudre Fire Authority spokesman said that the annual fireworks display at City Park will not happen on Independence Day, but they plan on doing it sometime later this summer.

‘It has been postponed, not cancelled,’ said Poudre Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Love. He cited the dry, fire-prone conditions and said the fire authority has its eye on an unknown date in the future to hold the fireworks show.

Apparently Poudre Fire Authority also put the kibosh on the fireworks display that was scheduled for members of the Fort Collins Country Club.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of City Park and the Fourth of July Parade will still go on as planned, just no Fort Collins fireworks for the 4th of July.

The display in Loveland is still scheduled to happen as planned, as is the one in Windsor , and the displays at the Greeley Stampede.
