Fort Collins police officer Peter DeKraker who was injured in a close-quarters gunfight in early October has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the shooting that took the life of Tino Martinez.According to the Coloradoan, DeKraker was responding to several report involving a "sprawled out" man on the second floor of the Cimarron Square Townhouse on the Southeast corner of Drake Road and Shields Street. After a short verbal exchange between Martinez and DeKraker, witnesses reported that Martinez became agitated and pulled our a .38-caliber Ruger LCR and started towards the officer and shot him in the shoulder strap of his bulletproof vest. DeKraker then pulled out his Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun and firing a total of four shots. After the shooting the Coloradoan learned that Martinez had several active warratns our for his arrest and since 2007 had multiple money, theft, adult and domestic violence cased filed against him; many of them as recent as early 2014.
