I was just thinking maybe I should ditch the treadmill and start jogging outside, and then this happened.

Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting a Fort Collins jogger in the leg with a pellet gun on Saturday.

The 36-year-old woman was running in the area of East Drake Road and Environmental Drive at about 2 p.m. when she felt a sting, noticed blood and pulled a metal pellet from her right thigh. She didn’t require medical treatment, police said.

Police are not worried about other people being targeted while exercising outdoors.

Witnesses to the shooting who have not yet talked to police are asked to contact Fort Collins Police Services Officer Paul Harding at (970) 221-6540.

If you need me, I'll be on the treadmill.
