Berthoud Parkway near Mountain Avenue was closed for five hours yesterday as Larimer County Sheriff's deputies investigated a crash involving a bicycle and a semi truck that resulted in the death of the bicyclist. According to the Coloradoan, the bicyclist was a 62-year old Fort Collins resident. The Larimer County Coroner's Office will release his identity later.

The Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling investigators, along with the Colorado State Patrol and Berthoud Fire Protection District determined that both the bicyclist and truck were both going southbound when the bicycle crashed into the passenger side of the truck, Sheriff's office spokesman David Moore told the Coloradoan. The 71-year-old driver from Fort Morgan was not hurt. Investigators do not believe that drugs, alcohol or speed were contributors.
