The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a food allergy alert and voluntary recall, do to an undeclared ingredient in a brand of hummus produced in Colorado. The Hope Foods brand, out of Louisville Colorado, has had a recall issued by the FDA on its Kale Pesto Hummus because it contains undeclared walnuts. This can be incredibly dangerous, and even life threatening, to those who may have a nut allergy and are not aware of the ingredient.

The product in question, was distributed in an 8 oz tub and marked with a  "Best By" date of 5/4/15, with a lot code of 030215-KP. The UPC of the recalled product is 8-56500-00426-6. As soon as it was recognized that the packaging was miss-labeled, not noting the walnut ingredient, the recalls was issued. There have not been any reported illnesses at this time due to the product being consumed by someone with a nut allergy.
