If you have not experienced the rush of Roller Derby, 2016 is your year! This year will mark the tenth season for FoCo Roller Derby, formerly FoCo Girls Gone Derby.

Why the name change? FoCo Roller Derby is proud to have dropped the gender-specific “girls” from their name. FoCo Roller Derby is a dedicated group of athletes and volunteers who love the sport of roller derby and the community of Fort Collins.

I love the fact that Northern Colorado is considered the “Napa Valley for Beer” and the FoCo Roller Derby all-star travel team has embraced this unofficial delegation and have named themselves The Micro Bruisers.

You can check out the league’s new website here. FoCo Roller Derby will also be offering recreation league options, an increase in the level of competitive play, and you will see them out in the community working with several area non-profits.

There is a recruitment meeting coming up on Feb 24th, or you can text PLAYDERBY to 22828 to get updates on recruitment.

Besides having great names like Gal Capone, Double D-Struction, and Dead Zeppelin roller derby is the ultimate in sportsmanship and competition. The bouts are an awesome place to take the kids to show them the art of competition, self-respect, self-confidence, athleticism and community. Plus it’s a lot of fun to watch!
