Labor Day's real meaning has been lost of most poeple, but it is a day off of work and a whole lot of sales. Everything from cars, to furniture, to airfare, to food, electronics, and power tools will be on-sale somewhere. So, here are few few of our favorite places to score big with big sales on Labor Day in Fort Collins. (For those of you wondering, Labor Day this year falls on September 5)

    SNIAGRAB - Sports Authority

Sniagrab ("Bargains" spelled backwards) is the annual sale from Sports Authority where you can pick up ski and snowboard gear, and just about any other winter gear you could ever dream of at drastically-reduced prices. I've seen many people score some huge deals at Snaigrab in the past.

Jax Mercantile has been serving Northern Colorado's outdoor needs for over 50 years and has become a household name for just about everyone in Fort Collins. They have one of their biggest sales of the year every with their Labor Day tent sale. Five days of final markdowns on lots of gear.

    JC Penny

Rumors are that JC Penney will be having some great in-store deals for the Labor Day weekend. Discounts on everything from clothes to jewelry to home-related items. It also appears they will be offering offering free shipping on online orders over $49, and taking 50 percent off furniture and mattresses.

    American Furniture Warehouse

If you've ever bought furniture in Colorado you've probably been in an AFW location. It seems like they are always having a sale on something, and Labor Dale usually means there is a sale on everything. With that new IKEA store opening up down the road I'm sure Jake Jabbs will have a little extra incentive to slash prices this holiday.

    Every Car Dealership In Town

Labor Day is arguably one of the best times of the year to find a deal on a new car. Smartmoney.com says September is the best month to buy a car, and Edmunds.com suggests the same thing. Most dealerships will be trying to clear out the 2011 models and offering all kinds of sales and incentives to get you to buy. And just about every one is advertising labor day sales, picnics, barbecues, and all the hoopla you could imagine to make their dealership your destination for Labor Day car-buying.
