According to a press release issued by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, the fatality of a man at the Big Thompson Canyon was caused by a fall off an embankment.

At approximately 2:15 am Friday morning, police were dispatched to 2400 block of River Rim Road after a report that the man had fallen off the embankment and was found unconscious in the river.

No names have been release, but officials say that a 55 year old man from Indiana was pulled from the river and was unresponsive. CPR was conducted at the scene however attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

While nothing suspicious is being considered at this time, officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Identification of the individual will not be released until family members have been notified.
