The town of Windsor is pleased to announce the annual Memorial Day ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery. The American Legion Post will be hosting this ceremony to honor veterans who have been laid to rest in Windsor. The Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014.

The event will include a flag ceremony, comments, and the traditional placement of the memorial wreath by the American Legion. This year, the Legion welcomes guest speaker, retired Army Special Forces Major Diggs Brown. Mayor John Vazquez will also be a participant in the ceremony.

Prior to the ceremony, from 6-9 a.m., the American Legion, located at 624 Ash Street in Windsor, will be offering free breakfast to all veterans, and $5 per plate for non-veterans.  After the ceremony, the public is invited to the American Legion Post for a BBQ including hamburgers and hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw and chips. The cost is $6 per plate.

As a reminder, the American Legion can help properly dispose of flags that have served their purpose and are torn, tattered or faded. For further information please contact the American Legion at (970) 686-9966.
