Fort Collins Fringe Festival features 64 performances in 3 days

Fort Collins—Decidedly unconventional theatre is returning to Fort Collins this September. The fourth Fort Collins Fringe Festival will be held in downtown Fort Collins on Thursday, September 15th; Friday, September 16th; and Saturday, September 17th. The 3-day event showcases 64 performances of original and experimental work by more than 75 local playwrights, choreographers and performers, including professional, amateur and student practitioners.

The Fort Collins Fringe Festival features productions by local creators performed by local artists, including performances integrating live dance and theatre with multimedia technology in the Museum of Discovery’s Otterbox Dome Theatre. One such piece: “There Is No Later When I Left Home” is a short film fusing live actors, 3d environments, and 2d animation. The Fringe also presents several dance performance groups such as A Trifle Manic’s “Caution: Not a Step" - a dance/theater showcase on stepladders, inspired by the age of silent film.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Performances run 6-10pm in the Dome Theatre (Fort Collins Museum of Discovery), Wolverine Farm Letterpress & Publick House, and Create Places. On Saturday, Fringe Out: A Free Family Fringe event from 10am-1pm at Heritage Courtyard in Library Park is free and open to the public. Tokens packages for each evening performance start at $10 and are available in advance and at the door. Ticket information can be found on the Festival website. Audiences can also use tokens to vote for the Audience Choice Award. Wolverine Farm Letterpress & Publick House hosts the Festival After-Party on Saturday, September 17th at 10:30pm.

Details, schedule and tickets to the performances are available on the event’s website, www.fringefestivalfortcollins.com.

The Fort Collins Fringe is a grassroots event organized and produced by Heather Ostberg Johnson, The New Commedia & Willis Productions, with support from Dome Club at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, la-de-da School for the Performing Arts, Create Places, The Armstrong Hotel, OpenStage Theatre & Company, and Homestate Bank.
