I have an issue with alcohol, and other substances, which preclude me from being able to indulge at all. Don't feel bad for me. My life is much better without it.

However, there are many people out there that aren't alcoholics but might be problem drinkers with established drinking habits that can be difficult to change.

A new movement toward moderation could help. Moderation.org is an online source designed to do just that.

If you are an alcoholic, these moderation tips simply won't work. It's still worth the effort, because that realization could help some people arrive at the difficult but freeing epiphany that often comes with a moment of alcoholic clarity. It could help you realize that you may need to take more drastic measures, like I did.

If you are not an alcoholic, but have drinking habits and patterns that are causing problems in your health or life, measures like tracking how much you drink, targeting a maximum number of drinks per week, and just putting a focus on it can really help.

Check out their page Steps of Change. It offers a great start on how to get your drinking in check.

Excessive drinking is linked to many health problems and they can include issues of mental and emotional health. So, if you think alcohol is a problem, maybe these techniques toward moderation could help!
