Best Restaurants to Take Dad For Father’s Day – Derek’s Top Five

Derek and his Dad

Sometimes trying to decide where to take your dad for a Father’s Day meal might be a little tricky, I know for me it is. When my parents come to town for a visit, I try to think of places to eat at that my dad will like, being that he is a little picky at times. I try to find places that not only have great food but are also a fun experience. So here, in no particular order, are my top five place to take dad for Father’s Day.

5.  RODIZIO GRILL

Fathers Day Special- None

What is more enjoyable for dad, then all you can eat meat! You sit down, talk with your waitress, and turn your little wooden thing to green and the plethora of meat is served! Gauchos (the guys that bring the food) come by your table with different meats from chicken to prime rib and many others in between including chicken hearts, which I do have to admit, are not half bad. You can learn more about the Rodizio Menu HERE. Rodizio is located inside the historic Train Station of Old Town Fort Collins, 200 Jefferson Street. Phone (970) 482-3103

4.Stuft- A Burger Bar

Burgers seem to go with Father’s Day like a hammer and a nail, like a baseball and a glove, like a cold one on a hot summers day, like a.. I will stop now. Seriously though, this place is great for dad to go to get a burger, because of the simple fact, you build your own. You can get beef, chicken, turkey or my dad’s favorite, buffalo to start with and you can pretty much add whatever you want to that burger. Heck, you can even add a glazed doughnut as the “bun” if you feel so inclined. Check out the endless possibilities HERE. Stuft is located at 210 S. College Ave, Fort Collins, CO. 3.Hibachi Japanese Steakhouse & Restaurant

Fathers Day Special- Open early for Lunch

This is a great place to have a little fun while you eat and its almost like dinner and a show. You sit down around the grill, order your food and instead of it being cooked in a kitchen, a hibachi chef comes out with all of the ingredients and cooks it right in front of you. The best part of all of this is the “show” and the banter you get with your chef. They can make an onion volcano, the do tricks with the spatulas and eggs and of course one of my dads favorites, the flipping of the food into your mouth. They usually use shrimp and flip it toward you and it is your job to catch it in your mouth. Hilarious and delicious! You can check out their Menu HERE. Hibachi Japanese Steakhouse is located at 1051 W. Horsetooth Road Ft Collins, CO 80526. Phone (970) 377-0812

2. Taverna Greek Grill

I recently opened my dad’s eyes to the wonders of Greek food, and this place was a great start to

that. They have an amazing menu full of many different entrees from great Greek salads to the classic gyro. They even have some great burgers if your pop isn’t big on Greek food, but if you take him here I highly suggest that he tries a little  something Greek because it is so good. One of the best things that sets this restaurant apart from any of the other Greek restaurants is the dancing and plate breaking. Yes, you read that right dancing and plate breaking. The staff gets in a line and dances around the restaurant to authentic Greek music and after that a few lucky customers get to break a plate for good luck and good health. When you go there be sure to tell the staff that your dad would like to break a plate. Why wouldn’t he? He’s not gonna get yelled at by anyone and he doesn’t even have to clean it up! If your dad is an early riser you can head there for brunch which runs 9am -12pm. You can check out the Taverna MENU HERE. Taverna Greek Grill is located at 4235 S. College Ave, Fort Collins, CO Phone (970) 266-1798

1. HuHot Mongolian Grill

Fathers Day Specials- None

If your father is one of those dad’s that can’t make up his mind about what he wants because he wants to try a bit of everything, then this is the place for you. You can make what ever combination of meat, noodles and veggies that you want and you can add your own blend of sauces. Once you have made your concoction, you take it to the grill that is located right in the middle and have the great chefs cook your meal right before your eyes and if you ask for fire make sure you take a step back.  Did I mention that it is all you can eat? It is, and my dad loves that about this place. You can go up try one mix and then go back up and make something totally different. Check out HuHot’s Menu HERE HuHot is located at 249 South College Avenue Fort Collins, Colorado. Phone (970) 416-0555

I hope this helps and gives you some ideas of where to take your dad to eat for Father’s Day.

To my dad and all of the dads out there, Happy Father’s Day!
