Death Investigation – Fort Collins Police Hear Gunshot Right Before Servicing Search Warrant

Deputies are investigating an unattended death on a property north of Fort Collins after a gunshot was heard.

Larimer County Sheriff's deputies responded to an address on Highway 1 on Friday morning to assist Fort Collins Police Services with service of a search warrant.

As officers attempted contact at the front door at approximately 10:30 a.m., a gunshot was heard. When they entered the residence, a deceased male was found on the property with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No officers fired their guns, nor were any officers injured.

This is being investigated as an unattended death, and the victim's identity will be released by the Coroner's Office at a later time.
