Colorado State University has fired head football coach Steve Fairchild. The move comes in the same week that CSU terminated Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk, and announced Jack Graham as his replacement. The moves come at the end of a 3-9 football season. The search for a new head coach is underway.

Tim Duffie, who has coached CSU's defensive backs, was named the transition coach to run the program until a new coach is hired, All of Fairchild's other assistant coaches remain on the job for now, Graham said, and will continue to try to fill the 2012 recruiting class. None of the current assistant coaches, he said, are candidates for the head coaching job.
