A Coloradoan Reporter, Jeffrey Bersch, has been charged with burglary after entering a home in Fort Collins Sunday night.

Police responded to a call Sunday night after a woman had called to report a suspitious man wandering around the neighborhood. At one point she claimed that she "heard sounds of someone coming in to her home.” The woman later found Bersch standing in her home and what point picked up a pair of children's shoes.

According to the official police report Bersche was arrested in the backyard. Bersch was charged with second degree burglary and faces a Class 3 felony and could receive up to 12 years in prison.

After arresting Bersch, police say he “was so intoxicated he didn't remember anything he had done.”

Earlier this year Bersch had been charged with drunk driving as well as driving on the wrong side of a highway. He admitted guilt and took a plea deal.

The Fort Collins based newspaper has stated that Bersch is "no longer employed by the Coloradoan as of Wednesday."
