I see a lot of strange headlines, but this one has me scratching my head. A woman in Colorado Springs posted a photo online of herself breastfeeding a struggling puppy.

According to KRDO, the woman says she had five puppies who's mother had been killed. They were not eating and would not take bottles or any K-9 formula.

He just wasn’t taking it.  I didn’t know what else to do, I was desperate and I just couldn’t bear sitting there watching it die.

KRDO asked a veterinarian about what the woman did that said they wouldn’t recommend breast feeding a puppy because of zoonotic diseases and because human milk isn’t the best, nutrition-wise, for other animals, but that it would be okay in an emergency.

This woman's heart was in the right place and she might be saving these puppies lives. However, a vet might have done things differently and still saved the puppies, we'll never know for sure.

I'm not going to debate the 'ethics' of the woman feeding breast milk to a dog, I mean we drink milk from cows and goats and inter-species sharing of milk is fairly common throughout history. (Heck, even Buzzfeed has a gallery of humans breast-feeding other animals.)

But I am wondering why this woman took to social media to share her dog-to-boob endeavors, then goes on a TV news interview (which you can watch here) and hides her identity. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with some of the horrid comments that people have being posting about her online. The status of, "Hey look, I'm breast feeding puppies," seems to fall in one of those categories of 'over-sharing', at least it would for me.

I'm just glad the dogs are doing okay.
