Denver for Psilocybin is a group who plans to put the decriminalization of magic mushrooms on the ballot for May of next year.  They wanted it as an option in November '18, but their proposal was rejected simply because of some of the technical language that was in it.

Once the proposal is accepted based on its wording, it will need 5000 signatures to get on the ballot.  The group already has about 100 volunteers who are working to educate the public on the benefits of magic mushrooms - none of which is seeing purple unicorns like Neil Patrick Harris did in Harold & Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay.

No, psychedelic drugs have for decades been proven to help people who are struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression - at least, under the right circumstances.  Those who have done them will tell you that it's extremely important to set yourself up in a "safe" environment before taking a heavy amount of them.  For example, if you do them with anyone else around, it's best by far if they are your true friends, as we become ultra sensitive to outside influence, being directly in touch with areas of our brains that we aren't normally.  In a way, it can be almost like dreaming while you're awake (or so I've heard.)

Lighter doses of certain magic mushrooms, however, can simply be a slightly euphoric high and an extremely heightened, yet peaceful, sense of awareness and self.
