Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has signed a bill to fund CPR training for high school students.

The Denver Channel reported, that each year roughly 50,000 students graduate from Colorado high schools, according to the American Heart Association.

"A one-time 30 minute training, students can learn the skills necessary to save a life in an emergency situation," AHA officials said.

Training will be paid for with a $250,000 general appropriation to the grant fund.

"Teaching students CPR could potentially save thousands of lives by filling our communities with young adults trained to give cardiac arrest victims the immediate help they need to survive until EMTs arrive," the AHA stated.
