US Highway 287 is a little worse for wear in some places; but luckily, that's about to change.

CDOT is launching a three-phase project this week to repave US 287/College Ave. in places throughout Fort Collins and Loveland, according to The Coloradoan.

Phase one, which will cover the three miles between Harmony and Carpenter roads, is expected to run through July. Loveland-based Coulson Excavating Co. is the contractor for the $2.7 million project.

Phase two will cover from Carpenter Road to 29th Street in Loveland, and will start in August.  Phase three will cover from Harmony Road to Mulberry Street in Fort Collins, and should begin in the spring of 2015.

Road work is scheduled to be between 9am and 3pm; and while lane closures are expected, the highway is wide enough to allow two open lanes of traffic in each direction.  So that's good.

Are you glad they're finally repaving this road, even though it's probably going to make traffic a nightmare?  Let us know in the comments!
