Christina Aguilera will join Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine as a judge (or "coach" as they call them) on NBC's new talent show "The Voice."

You can read all about the judges and the show from Billboard.  Basically, "The Voice" will be NBC's answer to competing with "American Idol."  It premiers on April 26th, right about the time that "American Idol" should be down to their top ten finalists.

What is "The Voice?" Here is the description from it's official website:

"The Voice is the search for the best voice in America!"

"Hosted by Carson Daly and featuring Grammy Award-winners Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine (Maroon 5) as three of the four coaches who will help shape America's next top singing star."

This one has some star power behind it as Aquilera, Green, and Levine have all made plenty of music headlines recenlty.  But I wonder if the world is ready for yet another cast-your-vote talent show.  Think about it, how many of these kinds of shows can you name of the top of your head?

  • American Idol
  • The Voice
  • America's Got Talent
  • So You Think You Can Dance
  • X-Factor
  • America's Next Dance Crew
  • The Sing-Off
  • Star Academy
  • Project Greenlight
  • Making the Band

I'm fairly certain that list could go  a lot further, and there are countless shows that have already come and gone.  (Aren't most of these just dolled up versions of "Star Search?")  But are there really enough votes and enough people who care for all of them to succeed?  Doubtful.

If you could pick ONE vote-for-your-favorite-talent show to stay on the air, which one would you pick?
