A Cheyenne man was arrested Tuesday after police say he got into a fight with a woman and threw a shovel at her.

Officer Dan Long says police were called to 316 Central Avenue #17 around 6:20 p.m.

"When officers arrived they determined that 36-year-old Ezequiel Galvan actually was in a verbal altercation with a woman," said Long.

"During the argument he picked up a shovel and held it like he was going to hit her," added Long. "Then he threw the shovel at her and hit her in the leg (leaving) a bright, red mark on her leg."

Long says the woman had gone to Galvan's apartment to speak with her boyfriend's daughter, but it's unclear what caused the two to get into a fight.

Galvan was arrested for aggravated assault. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.
