Another DUI enforcement period begins for the fall festival season September 19.

According to a news release, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol, and other local law enforcement agencies across the state will combine efforts for The Heat Is On campaign's Fall Festivals DUI enforcement, running from Friday, September 16, through Monday, October 24.

Last year, 1,486 impaired drivers were arrested during this particular DUI enforcement period statewide. Drivers should be aware of additional patrols, checkpoints, and extra officers on duty during this time on the lookout for impaired drivers.

To help out, CDOT has its newly enhanced R-U-Buzzed iOS and Android app as a resource to help drivers avoid driving impaired. The app is a blood-alcohol content calculator that will connect you with a ride-hailing service if your level is above the legal limit.
