Apparently a car exploded in Greeley early this morning. Talk about a terrifying way to be woken up in the middle of the night! According to CBS 4, the man who owned the car was hurt badly in the blast.

What caused it?

The news report says it was completely accidental. The man had an acetylene tank in the back of the car and it probably exploded when he opened the trunk. (Acetylene tanks are commonly used for welding and cutting torches)

The explosion happened at approximately 10:45 p.m. at 4615 46th Street Way, and the shockwave caused some windows on at least one nearby home to shatter. The car was heavily damaged by the fire that resulted from the explosion.

Wow. That is scary. "1,000 Ways To Die" kind of scary.

It's one of those freak accidents that no one sees coming. I hope the guy makes it through this without any long term damage. I feel terrible for him and his family.
