A wildfire broke out Sunday afternoon north of Fort Collins, threatening residences the Mill Creek subdivision.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office tweeted that the fire, located near County Road 59 and Starwood Trail in Livermore, covers 350 acres as of 7:05 p.m. Monday with 35% containment. Evacuations were recommended, though were not mandatory, to 43 Mill Creek residents and those on the east side of CR 59 between 80 C and the state line.

LCSO said in a news release on Sunday that there are no reports of injuries or damage to the 30 structures threatened by the Starwood Fire. LCSO says dry fuels and gusting winds caused the fire to grow quickly.

Cause of the Starwood Fire is determined and confirmed to be a lightning strike.

The Starwood fire has been classified as a Type III fire, which has a low complexity and is usually handled at the state and county level, the Coloradoan notes. Type I and II fires are taken care of by national response teams.
