matt's moneybagA man in Boulder is in hot water after he robbed a bank and then faked a heart attack when police caught up with him.

Is it just me, or is falling over and screaming in 'pain' not the best way to elude police?

According to the Daily Camera, the 55-year-old man walked into a bank on the corner of 28th and Pearl and handing a teller a note demanding money. He made of with the cash, but was spotted by two police officers later in the day. He took off running through a crowd and then fell down; faking that he was suffering a heart attack.

He must have been a good actor because some of the crowd stated getting “hostile” towards the police officers as they apprehended the screaming man, but he was taken to a hospital where they cleared him of any health problems. He was then booked in Boulder County jail and faces charges of robbery, identity theft, obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest and failure to appear in court.

I’m not sure why he would fake a heart attack. Was he hoping for pity? Like police would say, “Hmm, he robbed a bank, but he is having a heart attack…we’ll let him go, I think he learned his lesson.” Or maybe he was just embarrassed because he fell over running from police.

Pride makes people do stupid things.

Then again, it seems a lot of people do stupid things for no reason at all.
