It's never too late to become a park ranger - especially if it's your dream. Now it can become a reality as Volunteer Ranger Assistant positions are now open within Larimer County!

The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources and City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department are now accepting applications for their joint Volunteer Ranger Assistant program. Becoming a Volunteer Ranger Assistant means you'll be an ambassador for parks, open spaces, and natural areas, also known as the smiling face on foot, bike, or horse on the trail ready to answer visitors' questions.

Through 20 hours of training in late February, you'll learn about local and regional trails, how to approach visitors, ecology, safety, and stewardship. Special behind-the-scenes tours, recognition events, and continuing education classes in first aid/CPR and winter ecology will also be available to you. Your schedule can be flexible if needed, though volunteers are especially needed on the weekends.

If interested in applying, go here. The application deadline is January 20, 2017. Questions? Contact Pam Mayhew at 970-619-4552 or pmayhew@larimer.org, or Sue Schafer at 970-416-2480 or sschafer@fcgove.com.
