In a surprising move announced today and reported by the Coloradoan, Bass Pro Shops has completed a 180-degree move and have decided to pull out of plans of opening up a new store in Loveland.

The store would've been located on a parcel of land on Highway 34 that is adjacent to the Promenade Shops at Centerra.

No explanation was given by McWhinney Incorporated other than that Bass Pro Shops "decided to not pursue the construction due to unforeseen changes".

The change in the plans comes as a surprise, especially on the heels of the initial press release sent out by Bass Pro Shops saying that the new retail development would've brought at least 250 jobs to the region. The new Bass Pro Shops would've been close to 117,000 square feet in size.

The departure of Bass Pro comes on the heels of the announcement on June 3rd that another sporting goods retailer, Scheels, would be building their next retail store almost directly across where Bass Pro Shops would've been situated.
