Attempted Child Abduction Near Golden Was False Alarm

***UPDATE Sun October 4th - The Denver Post is reporting that this attemped abduction was just a misunderstanding of an 18-year-old boy trying to get the attention of his ex-girlfriend, he was not trying to abduct a young boy. ***

What is wrong with the world?! Police are working to find Jessica Ridgeway’s killer, police in Cody Wyoming have released a composite sketch of the man that lured a young girl into his SUV and sexually assaulted her earlier this month and now police are looking for a man that attempted to abduct a 13-year-old boy outside of his home in Jefferson County Saturday evening.

According to KDVR, Jefferson County Police received a call earlier tonight that a white male with dark hair attempted to abduct a 13-year-old boy at 16640 West 2nd Avenue in Golden.

Police said the suspect may be driving a dark blue four-door small sedan that was last seen heading eastbound from the 6th Avenue West Estates near Indiana and 6th Ave. According to police dispatch, there was no license plate in the back of the car. Authorities said the man was wearing a red jersey and a red cap.

Thankfully the boy yelled and ran into his house, and his mother ran outside and snapped a photo of the man in his car.

According to the Denver Channel, the suspect's description from police and the description of the vehicle are similar to other attempted abduction cases in Jefferson County.

The Arvada suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin build, sandy or brown hair and late teens to late 30s in age. The second Arvada victim described the suspect as not having facial hair, but the first victim described him as having a thin beard and mustache…The vehicle used in the Arvada incidents was described as a royal blue -- similar to the blue worn by the University of Kentucky -- four-door sedan, possibly from the mid 90s. It may have dents on the passenger side rear door and may have half of the rear wheels covered with a "skirt" similar to those seen on a 1996 Cadillac Deville.
