If you were a young adult in the early aughts, chances are you know Artemis Fowl.  Irish author Eoin Colfer published the first book of the series in 2001 and went on to write seven more in the next 10+ years, documenting the adventures of the series' namesake — a 12-year-old criminal mastermind. Disney hinted at a movie adaptation in 2016, and on Tuesday (November 27), fans finally got to see the first trailer. The film's title is simply Artemis Fowl, and it follows the storyline of the first book in the series.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also directed Thor and Disney's live adaptation of Cinderella, the sci-fi/fantasy movie is set to star newcomers Ferdia Shaw as Artemis and Lara McDonnell as Captain Holly Short, as well as Judi Dench (Commander Root), Josh Gad (Mulch Diggums), and Nonso Anozi (Butler).

When Disney dropped the nearly two-minute-long clip, fans of the book series could hardly contain themselves. "I NEVER THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD COME I’M SO EMOTIONAL RN," one Twitter user proclaimed. "I AM NOT EXAGGERATING WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR A MOVIE," another fan exclaimed. "Artemis Fowl was and still is my favourite childhood book series and while I’ve had my doubts about this movie, this trailer has just wiped all those doubts away."

Not everyone was thrilled, however. "This was exactly how I looked like watching that remarkably dull #ArtemisFowl teaser," one less-than-impressed user tweeted alongside a less-than-impressed photo of the film's titular character. Another fan decided to dissect the trailer and pick apart everything it's changing from the books.

Others were more skeptical than anything, begging Branagh to not mess up the iconic series.
