We may have not found the fountain of youth, granting eternal life, but there may be a new pill that's the next best thing. According to the National Post, a new pill, that is believed to stop the aging process, as well as halt Alzheimers and Parkinson's, is set to begin human trials next year (2016). This may seem far fetched, coming right our of science-fiction, but the research has already shown that the drug has extended the lives of test animals. This research has prompted the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to proceed with human trials.

Now this drug is not expected to produce immortality, but it is expected to extend ones life to upwards of 120 years. This is due to the pill increasing the oxygen molecules released into cells, which boosts robustness and longevity. The animals that were given the drug, showed slower aging, and a resiliency to getting ill. They also outlived the over animals that were not given the drug by an average of eight years.

One of the doctors who conducted the study stated that, "Aging is not an inevitable part of life, because all cells contain a DNA blueprint that could keep a body functioning correctly for ever." They pointed to the fact that some sea creatures never age, or show weakness over time.

So what do you think? Is this unnatural, or just the next step is understanding our genetics and furthering our evolution? Will you be one of the first in line to buy the new pill?
