You might see increased police activity at Loveland High School on Tuesday.

That's because an active shooter training exercise is scheduled at the school that day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. which will include the use of simulated firearm ammunition and firearm blanks inside and outside the school.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that these exercises are focused on providing consistent training, familiarization with other agencies in the area, mutual aid/resource mobilization, and to facilitate a smooth, coordinated effort should an active shooter or mass casualty incident happen in our community.

A large number of law enforcement and emergency response vehicles will be in the area, including personnel from LCSO, Colorado State University Police Department, Larimer County Natural Resources, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Loveland Police Department, Poudre Fire Authority, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, and Berthoud Fire Protection District.

Signs will be posted around the school property to inform residents and visitors what is happening.

LCSO asks that you please avoid going to Loveland High School property until after the training exercise and complete and emergency vehicles have left the area.
