A Random Shooting, Fort Collins Police Investigating

According to the Fort Collins Police Services website the Fort Collins police are continuing the investigation into the shooting this morning. The victim has been identified as 22 year-old Jamie Warfield of Fort Collins. Warfield is a CSU student in the process of completing her last course before graduation. Warfield was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of a single gunshot wound.

Warfield, accompanied by several friends, had been downtown earlier in the evening and were walking to her home in the area of Myrtle and Remington Streets when the incident occurred. There was no altercation and the shooting appears to be random.

Witnesses variously reported the vehicle as a darker-colored truck or possibly a light or dark-colored SUV.
