5 Northern Colorado Holiday Events That You Can’t Miss
As much as you don't want to admit that time has flown by this year, the holiday season is upon us which means some great events to celebrate in the region.
Whether you live in Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Estes Park, or any of the surrounding towns, you have no reason to not get into the holiday spirit this year. It seems like with all the bad news happening in the world today, some holiday cheer is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Starting in the month of November and going through December, there is an event for everyone in your family. Young or old, these events will bring a smile to your face and will allow you to enjoy the smile on everyone else's faces as they see the lights lit up throughout Northern Colorado.
So what five events should you see over the next couple months? Pull out your calendar and mark these down because they will be sure to get you in the holiday frame of mind!
The annual holiday lighting ceremony is occurring in downtown Fort Collins on Friday, November 4th and is one of the highlights of the holiday season. You'll be able to enjoy live music and hot chocolate, with the switch being turned on for the lights at 6:30 P.M. If you've never seen the lights before, they can be viewed through downtown on College Avenue, along with Laporte and Magnolia. There will also be horse and carriage rides throughout the night.
The annual Greeley "Lights the Night" Parade is happening on November 26th and starts at 5:30 P.M. The first event my kids ever saw in Northern Colorado was this parade and they loved it from beginning to end. Over 50 lighted parade entries make their way through downtown Greeley for an event that the entire family will enjoy!
The annual Catch the Glow Christmas Parade is happening in Estes Park on November 25th as the town celebrates the beginning of the holiday season! Santa will make a visit along with hayrides that the entire family can be part of, along with carolers throughout the town. The parade will begin at 5:30 P.M. that night.
Santa will be setting up his workshop once again this year in Old Town Fort Collins, with the first day being November 19th at noon. He'll be in his workshop Wednesday through Sunday until December 15th from noon - 6 P.M. and then he will be there every day until Christmas Eve from noon - 6 P.M., except he needs to leave at 4 P.M. Christmas Eve to get his sleigh packed! It's absolutely free for the kids to see Santa as well!
The town of Windsor holds their annual Windsor Wonderland event on Saturday, December 3rd throughout town. Santa will arrive from the North Pole via the Great Western Railway at the intersection of 5th and Ash Street. There will also be a petting zoo, carolers, hot chocolate, and more! Plus you'll be able to get your holiday shopping done with all the great local businesses in Windsor that day!
