By now, it's not a big surprise when Colorado makes a list for 'the best of'. This list, however, really is a testament to the kind of people that live here: the entrepreneurs.

As Zen99 reported, Colorado made the list with two cities for fastest-growing for self-employement.

This is when I say..."Like a Boss!"

But really-- they looked at seven major sectors of self-employment, like:

  • Management/business/science/arts
  • Construction
  • Other services (including hairdressers, cosmetologists, mechanics and dry cleaners)
  • Service occupations
  • Finance/insurance/real estate/rentals
  • Agriculture/forestry/fishing and hunting/mining
  • Wholesale trade

Based on these factors and looking at the census numbers from 2009 to 2013, two Colorado cities made the list of the Top 10 among the nation.

And the winners are...

Coming in at Number 5 is the City of Fort Collins with Other Services (see above) being the top self-employed industry.

Coming in at Number 9 is the City of Lakewood, again with Other Services (see above) being the top self-employed industry.
